This painting is one of the largest canvases I've worked on for a while but it reminded me how much I like to work big. Much easier to manipulate plane and tones with a looser brush stroke, but enough about technique. I really wanted to show contrasts in this painting, traditional clothes and accessories with contemporary sunglasses, an elderly man who is still young at heart, and also the contrasting styles between figurative painting and my heavy graff influences. I had a lot of fun painting this and hopefully I can get a few more stylistically similar pieces done to create a series, but we'll see. I kind of paint what my spirit tells me.
