Seraph & Ophan
8.5 x 11
graphic pen on paper

Ever since I was a child I've always had a fascination with  ancient mythology and the supernatural, and although I very long ago  gave up believing that biblical writings are literal truth I've always been intrigued by some of the stories to be found, especially in the  older texts. One book in particular has always stood out, in part due to its historical significance to Ethiopia and the ancient Abyssinian kingdoms, but also due to the amazing tales of fallen angels, Nephalim (half-human/half-angel giants), and apocalyptic prophecies. The Book of Enoch also goes into detail about the angels found in much Ethiopian iconography. These drawings are part of a series, and are representations of the Ophanim and Seraphim, two of the many categories of angels described therein.
