PRIDE 2015

Last weekend I was invited by friends in The Queer Mafia and BlakCollectiv to paint a mural in downtown Ottawa as part of a collaborative project at the location where the Pride parade ended (Bank and Somerset). The theme was honouring intersectional identities within communities of colour, with a particular focus on Black trans women and and trans women of colour, who historically and recently have been disproportionately marginalized, targeted and victimized by violence. My thanks to Ade, The Queer Mafia, and Union613 for facilitating this mural and thanks to my boy Allan Andre for the assist in painting, as well as BlakCollectiv members for adding the names in remembrance of those lost for simply 'being'. Thanks also to John Akpata and Kevin Taing for shooting photos and everybody who came by to hang out!
